Is there a future for the Bornean orangutan?

PLOS l One : Serge Wich et al : 18 January 2013

BOS Australia President, Tony Gilding said “An important new paper was released just before Christmas. It was co-authored by no less than five staff members of Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation as well as other eminent scientists.”

“The disturbing news from this report is that only 22% of the population of orangutans of Borneo live in protected areas. It notes that 49% of the orangutan population will be lost if all forest outside these areas and logging concessions is lost. The article goes on to provide much more detail about Bornean orangutans and their habitat. It is a worthy read.”
